Artist
Reception: Tuesday, Sept 12, 2006, 6 - 9pm
New
(and gently shown) paintings of Bears and Flowers*.
Please
come visit Retrofit Home during the month of September
to
see the latest show of acrylic paintings by Joey Veltkamp.
The
show is built around the pairing of two of Joey's favorite things:
bears
and flowers. Both of which play prominently in the artist's
life
and history of the Pacific Northwest.
For
instance, did you know that the tulip was "born" here?
That's
a fact -- I read it on the internet. And another
fact?
We
have more Pandas in captivity than any other city north of San Diego.
That's
also a fact I just made up. True or false? Joey Veltkamp is widely
considered
to be the foremost emerging "paint-by-number"-esque bear
artist
in Seattle. (That's
true!)
If
you'd like to know more facts, please visit the show.

Yes, the title is intentional homage to Western
Bridge's wonderful show, Boys and Flowers.
