| My work is autobiographical without being overtly revealing. By pulling specific moments from various parts of my life, I'm building a larger, fictionalized narrative that allows viewers glimpses into my life but doesn't give them much insight. In my latest body of work, Diary Drawings, viewers will recognize all the objects in the paintings but won't understand why I selected them. Instead, the objects gain meaning by how much resonance they have in each viewer's personal life. Are the contents of my bathroom shelves of interest to anyone but me? How can we transform the daily detritus (both physical and emotional) of our daily lives into art? | |
